Jane Hodgkinson

Jane Hodgkinson dedicated over three decades to enhancing the lives of individuals with special needs through her role as Executive Director at the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA). During her tenure, WDSRA received national acclaim, being twice recognized as the BEST Recreation Program for People with Special Needs by the National Recreation and Park Association.

Jane’s impact extended beyond WDSRA. She was a Founding Board Member of the Illinois Special Olympics in 1976, and her leadership continued as she served as Chairman of the Illinois Special Olympics from 1981 to 1982. In 2004, Jane assumed the role of President of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association, further advocating for inclusive recreational opportunities.

Her dedication didn’t stop there. Jane received prestigious recognition from the American Academy of Park and Recreation Professionals in 2007. Additionally, she contributed to her local community as a Wheaton Park District Board Commissioner from 2013 to 2021.
